Notes from First SRT Youth Action Committee meeting

Greetings!

Posts in this Youth Action Blog present topics and issues of importance to young leaders in Santa Rosa.

The following notes result from the first meeting of the Santa Rosa Together Youth Action Committee meeting, held on February 1, 2014 at Cook Middle School.
Tagline
To allow and encourage youth to be heard
Introduction
SRT Youth Action Committee 
 
Purpose: Communication between youth 
and community. 
Mission: To allow and encourage youth to be heard. 
 
Activities: 
●Learn about what is in Santa Rosa for youth currently. 
   ○Website with youth leadership 
     nonprofit groups in Santa Rosa.  
     Add any nonprofit groups not on it. 
●Identify what groups youth are running in schools. 
●Create council in schools - 2-year project. 
●Alliance with SRT School Committee. 
●Educate students that they can make a difference. 
●Once data is gathered from youth
  and school groups, create survey to ask 
  students what they want. 
●Understand how to motivate students to care more. 
●1st year focus on middle school and high school 
  - look at pushing down to 
    5/6th grade student councils. 
●Recruit new members for SRT 
  Youth Action Committee.
